When you sign up for PropelU’s courses or other work-related training

The Canada-BC Job Grant is a program that assists employers in investing in the training of their current or future employees, by taking on some of the costs. This funding from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia reimburses employers for up to 2/3 of the training costs, to a maximum of $10,000 per participant per fiscal year.
Additionally, if this training will lead to a previously unemployed individual being hired by the employer, the employer may be eligible for reimbursement of up to 100% of training costs.
The goal of the Canada-BC Job Grant is to aid British Columbia residents in finding and keeping jobs by helping them develop their skills. The grant also presents an opportunity for employers to invest in training their employees and fostering continual growth in the workplace.
Employee development training that is eligible for the grant include:
- Soft Skills, such as goal development or working in teams;
- Essential Skills, such as digital technology;
- Management and Business Skills; and
- Specialized and Technical Skills, which includes Foundation Programs and Apprenticeship Training for Trades.
Costs associated such as tuition fees, mandatory student fees, examination fees, textbooks and other required materials, are all eligible for reimbursement.
Although professional and employee development is essential to the growth and continued improvement of small businesses, the costs associated with training can be daunting. The Canada-BC Job Grant is specifically designed to aid businesses like yours to fund employee training.
There are three streams of eligibility and small business (under 50 employees) fit under the “Priority Sector”. If you work in industries like Agrifoods, Forestry, Manufacturing, Technology and Green Tourism etc., you are also eligible for funding under the same sector.
